Éxodo 19: Israel en Sinaí.
1 Los israelitas llegaron al desierto de Sinaí el primer día del tercer mes de haber salido de Egipto. 2 Después de partir de Refidín, se internaron en el desierto de Sinaí y allí en el desierto acamparon, frente al monte, 3 al cual subió Moisés para encontrarse con Dios. Y desde allí lo llamó el Señor y le dijo: «Anúnciale esto al pueblo de Jacob; declárale esto al pueblo de Israel: 4 “Ustedes son testigos de lo que hice con Egipto y de que los he traído hacia mí como sobre alas de águilas. 5 Si ahora ustedes me son del todo obedientes y cumplen mi pacto, serán mi propiedad exclusiva entre todas las naciones. Aunque toda la tierra me pertenece, 6 ustedes serán para mí un reino de sacerdotes y una nación santa”.
»Comunícales todo esto al pueblo de Israel».
7 Moisés volvió y convocó a los jefes del pueblo para exponerles todas estas palabras que el Señor había ordenado comunicarles, 8 y todo el pueblo respondió a una sola voz: «Cumpliremos con todo lo que el Señor nos ha ordenado».
Así que Moisés llevó al Señor la respuesta del pueblo 9 y el Señor dijo:
—Voy a presentarme ante ti en medio de una densa nube, para que el pueblo me oiga hablar contigo y también tenga siempre confianza en ti.
Moisés refirió al Señor lo que el pueblo le había dicho 10 y el Señor dijo:
—Ve y consagra al pueblo hoy y mañana. Diles que laven sus ropas 11 y que se preparen para el tercer día, porque en ese mismo día yo, el Señor, descenderé sobre el monte Sinaí, a la vista de todo el pueblo. 12 Pon límites alrededor del monte para que el pueblo no pase. Diles que no suban al monte, y que ni siquiera pongan un pie en él, pues cualquiera que lo toque será condenado a muerte. 13 Sea hombre o animal, no quedará con vida. Quien se atreva a tocarlo, morirá a pedradas o a flechazos. Solo podrán subir al monte cuando se oiga el toque largo de la trompeta de cuerno de carnero.
14 En cuanto Moisés bajó del monte, consagró al pueblo; ellos, por su parte, lavaron sus ropas. 15 Luego Moisés les dijo: «Prepárense para el tercer día y absténganse de relaciones sexuales».
16 En la madrugada del tercer día hubo truenos y relámpagos, y una densa nube se posó sobre el monte. Un toque muy fuerte de trompeta puso a temblar a todos los que estaban en el campamento. 17 Entonces Moisés sacó del campamento al pueblo para que fuera a su encuentro con Dios, y ellos se detuvieron al pie del monte Sinaí. 18 El monte estaba cubierto de humo, porque el Señor había descendido sobre él en medio de fuego. Era tanto el humo que salía del monte, que parecía un horno; todo el monte se sacudía violentamente, 19 y el sonido de la trompeta era cada vez más fuerte. Entonces habló Moisés y Dios le respondió en el trueno.
20 El Señor descendió a la cumbre del monte Sinaí y desde allí llamó a Moisés para que subiera. Cuando Moisés llegó a la cumbre, 21 el Señor dijo:
—Baja y advierte al pueblo que no intenten romper el cerco para verme, no sea que muchos de ellos pierdan la vida. 22 Hasta los sacerdotes que se acercan a mí deben consagrarse; de lo contrario, yo arremeteré contra ellos.
23 Moisés dijo al Señor:
—El pueblo no puede subir al monte Sinaí, pues tú mismo nos has advertido: “Pon límites alrededor del monte y conságralo”.
24 El Señor respondió:
—Baja y dile a Aarón que suba contigo. Pero ni los sacerdotes ni el pueblo deben romper el cerco, pues de lo contrario, yo arremeteré contra ellos.
25 Moisés bajó y repitió eso mismo al pueblo.

“Aunque un pájaro parezca débil en comparación con un lobo o un león que merodea (Satanás), la presencia protectora de Dios es formidable y digna de confianza.” [Christianity Today]. “Ustedes son testigos de lo que hice con Egipto y de que los he traído hacia mí como sobre alas de águilas.” [versículo 4, Nueva Versión Internacional] … os tomé sobre alas de águilas … En algunas culturas el águila representa la deidad. Su majestuosa presencia impone respeto y admiración. Con sus amplias alas que le ayudan a elevarse en el firmamento protege a sus crías y las sostiene. De esta manera, sobre las alas de águila, Dios sacó a Su pueblo manifestando así su cuidado y amor por él. Con condición de que oyeran Su voz y guardaran Su pacto Dios les promete que serían ellos su especial tesoro. ¿Sientes que estás volando alto sostenido por sus fuertes alas? También repentinamente el águila hace un “clavado” y desciende velozmente al valle. Es allí, en la profundidad del valle donde escuchando las voces del enemigo nos sentimos heridos y sin valor. Hasta allí también desciende la gracia de Dios para recordarnos: Eres mi especial tesoro. Hoy necesito ser llevada por esas alas de águila y sentirme segura porque sé que Dios me ama. Su amor es invariable. Me ama igual en la cima de la montaña o en lo profundo del valle. Él siempre permanece fiel.
Exodus 19: At Mount Sinai.
1 On the first day of the third month after the Israelites left Egypt—on that very day—they came to the Desert of Sinai. 2 After they set out from Rephidim, they entered the Desert of Sinai, and Israel camped there in the desert in front of the mountain.
3 Then Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain and said, “This is what you are to say to the descendants of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel: 4 ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. 5 Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, 6 you[a] will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.”
7 So Moses went back and summoned the elders of the people and set before them all the words the Lord had commanded him to speak. 8 The people all responded together, “We will do everything the Lord has said.” So Moses brought their answer back to the Lord.
9 The Lord said to Moses, “I am going to come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear me speaking with you and will always put their trust in you.” Then Moses told the Lord what the people had said.
10 And the Lord said to Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow. Have them wash their clothes 11 and be ready by the third day, because on that day the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people. 12 Put limits for the people around the mountain and tell them, ‘Be careful that you do not approach the mountain or touch the foot of it. Whoever touches the mountain is to be put to death. 13 They are to be stoned or shot with arrows; not a hand is to be laid on them. No person or animal shall be permitted to live.’ Only when the ram’s horn sounds a long blast may they approach the mountain.”
14 After Moses had gone down the mountain to the people, he consecrated them, and they washed their clothes. 15 Then he said to the people, “Prepare yourselves for the third day. Abstain from sexual relations.”
16 On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast. Everyone in the camp trembled. 17 Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. 18 Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the Lord descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, and the whole mountain[b] trembled violently. 19 As the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and the voice of God answered him.[c]
20 The Lord descended to the top of Mount Sinai and called Moses to the top of the mountain. So Moses went up 21 and the Lord said to him, “Go down and warn the people so they do not force their way through to see the Lord and many of them perish. 22 Even the priests, who approach the Lord, must consecrate themselves, or the Lord will break out against them.”
23 Moses said to the Lord, “The people cannot come up Mount Sinai, because you yourself warned us, ‘Put limits around the mountain and set it apart as holy.’”
24 The Lord replied, “Go down and bring Aaron up with you. But the priests and the people must not force their way through to come up to the Lord, or he will break out against them.”
25 So Moses went down to the people and told them.

“Even though a bird seems weak in comparison with a wolf or prowling lion (Satan), God’s protective presence is formidable and trustworthy.” [Christianity Today]. “‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.” [verse 4, New International Version] … I took you on the wings of eagles … In some cultures, the eagle represents the deity. The eagle’s majestic presence commands respect and admiration. With its wide wings helps itself rise high in the sky protecting its young ones and sustaining them. In the same way, on the wings of an eagle, God brought out His people, thus manifesting their care and love for them. On the condition that they hear His voice and keep His covenant, God promises them that they would be his special treasure. Do you feel that you are flying high sustained by His strong wings? Suddenly at times the eagle makes a “dive” and descends quickly into the valley. It is there, in the depths of the valley, where listening to the voices of the enemy we feel hurt and worthless. There too the grace of God descends to remind us: You are my special treasure. Today I need to be carried by such eagle’s wings and feel secure because I know that God loves me. His love is invariable. He loves me the same at the top of the mountain or in the depth of the valley. He is always faithful.
