Génesis 6: La Maldad

6 Y ACAECIO que, cuando comenzaron los hombres á multiplicarse sobre la faz de la tierra, y les nacieron hijas,
2 Viendo los hijos de Dios que las hijas de los hombres eran hermosas, tomáronse mujeres, escogiendo entre todas.
3 Y dijo Jehová: No contenderá mi espíritu con el hombre para siempre, porque ciertamente él es carne: mas serán sus días ciento y veinte años.
4 Había gigantes en la tierra en aquellos días, y también después que entraron los hijos de Dios á las hijas de los hombres, y les engendraron hijos: éstos fueron los valientes que desde la antigüedad fueron varones de nombre.
5 Y vió Jehová que la malicia de los hombres era mucha en la tierra, y que todo designio de los pensamientos del corazón de ellos era de continuo solamente el mal.
6 Y arrepintióse Jehová de haber hecho hombre en la tierra, y pesóle en su corazón.
7 Y dijo Jehová: Raeré los hombres que he criado de sobre la faz de la tierra, desde el hombre hasta la bestia, y hasta el reptil y las aves del cielo: porque me arrepiento de haberlos hecho.
8 Empero Noé halló gracia en los ojos de Jehová.
9 Estas son las generaciones de Noé: Noé, varón justo, perfecto fué en sus generaciones; con Dios caminó Noé.
10 Y engendró Noé tres hijos: á Sem, á Châm, y á Japhet.
11 Y corrompióse la tierra delante de Dios, y estaba la tierra llena de violencia.
12 Y miró Dios la tierra, y he aquí que estaba corrompida; porque toda carne había corrompido su camino sobre la tierra.
13 Y dijo Dios á Noé: El fin de toda carne ha venido delante de mí; porque la tierra está llena de violencia á causa de ellos; y he aquí que yo los destruiré con la tierra.
14 Hazte un arca de madera de Gopher: harás aposentos en el arca y la embetunarás con brea por dentro y por fuera.
15 Y de esta manera la harás: de trescientos codos la longitud del arca, de cincuenta codos su anchura, y de treinta codos su altura.
16 Una ventana harás al arca, y la acabarás á un codo de elevación por la parte de arriba: y pondrás la puerta del arca á su lado; y le harás piso bajo, segundo y tercero.
17 Y yo, he aquí que yo traigo un diluvio de aguas sobre la tierra, para destruir toda carne en que haya espíritu de vida debajo del cielo; todo lo que hay en la tierra morirá.
18 Mas estableceré mi pacto contigo, y entrarás en el arca tú, y tus hijos y tu mujer, y las mujeres de tus hijos contigo.
19 Y de todo lo que vive, de toda carne, dos de cada especie meterás en el arca, para que tengan vida contigo; macho y hembra serán.
20 De las aves según su especie, y de las bestias según su especie, de todo reptil de la tierra según su especie, dos de cada especie entrarán contigo para que hayan vida.
21 Y toma contigo de toda vianda que se come, y allégala á ti; servirá de alimento para ti y para ellos.
22 E hízolo así Noé; hizo conforme á todo lo que Dios le mandó.

“La integridad es hacer lo correcto, incluso cuando nadie está mirando”. [C.S. Lewis]. “”La imagen es lo que la gente piensa que somos. La integridad es lo que realmente somos”. [John C. Maxwell]. Esta es la historia de Noé: Noé fue el varón más justo y cabal de su tiempo. Noé andaba con Dios.” [versículo 9, Biblia de Jerusalén]. Aunque era un hombre aparentemente común, esposo y padre de familia y sin embargo algo diferente había en él. Algo que agradó a Dios. Como Enoc su bisabuelo, “con Dios caminó Noé.” [Reina Varela 1960]. Me imagino que no se refiere a paseos, o una caminata ocasional por el bosque o la montaña lo que hicieron Enoc y Dios. Supongo que tenían una comunión muy íntima y que sus corazones latían por Dios; y todo lo que hacían, lo hacían para Dios. Eran amigos de Dios. Se conocían. Tal vez hablaban día tras día. Sin duda Noé sabía quién era Dios (un ser especial que gobernaba su vida entera). “”Las personas íntegras y honestas no solo practican lo que predican, sino que son lo que predican.” [David A. Bednar]. Volvemos al citado texto con que comienza el relato [versículo 9], “Esta es la historia de Noé.” Estoy empezando a escribir mi historia de este nuevo año. Cuando no estoy segura de algo, lo escribo con lápiz para que pueda borrarlo si no es correcto. No así con mis actitudes, palabras y acciones. Nuestras vidas son cartas abiertas leídas por todos los hombres [2 Corintios 3:2-4]. Señor, te pido que en este día alguien encuentre algo de Ti en mi libro; algo de tu amor, de Tu compasión, de Tu perdón y de Tu provisión.

6 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
7 And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.
10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
15 And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.
17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee.
19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.
20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.
21 And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.
22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

“Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is looking.” [C.S. Lewis]. “The image is what people think we are. Integrity is who we really are.” [John C. Maxwell]. “These are the family records of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among his contemporaries; Noah walked with God.” [verse 9, Christian Standard Bible]. Although he was a seemingly ordinary man, husband and father of a family, there was something different about him. Something that pleased God. Like his great-grandfather Enoch, “Noah walked with God.” [Christian Standard Bible]. I imagine it doesn’t mean that he literally took a walk, or an occasional stroll in the woods or mountains that Enoch and God did. I suppose they had a very intimate communion and that their hearts beat for God; and whatever they did, they did for God. They were friends of God. Each of them knew God. Maybe they talked day in and day out. No doubt Noah knew who God was (a special being who ruled his entire life). “People of integrity and honesty not only practice what they preach, but they are what they preach.” [David A. Bednar]. We return to the quoted text with which the account begins [verse 9], “This is the story of Noah.” I’m starting to write my story for this new year. When I’m not sure about something, I write it down in pencil so I can erase it if it’s not correct. Not so with my attitudes, words, and actions. Our lives are open letters read by all men [2 Corinthians 3:2-4]. Lord, I pray that on this day someone will find something of You in my book; something of Your love, Your compassion, Your forgiveness, and Your provision.
