Salmos 133: La bienaventuranza del amor fraternal.
1 Cántico gradual: de David. MIRAD cuán bueno y cuán delicioso es Habitar los hermanos igualmente en uno!
2 Es como el buen óleo sobre la cabeza, El cual desciende sobre la barba, La barba de Aarón, Y que baja hasta el borde de sus vestiduras;
3 Como el rocío de Hermón, Que desciende sobre los montes de Sión: Porque allí envía Jehová bendición, Y vida eterna.

Una de las actividades de los fines de semana es pasar tiempo con la familia o con amigos. Sin embargo, “Frecuentemente me encuentro con personas que no pueden tratar con alguien de su familia. O su suegra es una bruja o su tío es un vagabundo o tienen un padre que los trata como si nunca hubieran nacido”. [Max Lucado]. Todos conocemos a personas que son como las rosas. Son bellas personas, pero no te puedes acercar a ellas sin ser herido por sus espinas. El salmo de hoy nos llama la atención a un segundo componente del verdadero disfrute de la familia o de los amigos: la armonía o unidad. “No todo lo que es bueno es agradable, y no todo lo que es agradable es bueno. La unidad entre el pueblo de Dios es una bendición tan notable porque es a la vez buena y agradable, y ambas en un alto grado, indicada por la repetición del cómo [en este breve salmo].” [Enduring Word]. David, el autor de este salmo la ilustra comparándola con el aromático aceite con el cual el anfitrión daba la bienvenida a su visitante en el medio oriente de antaño, o como el abundante roció del Monte Harmón, ambos simbólicos de una extraña y rica bendición. Aceptación del prójimo tal como es, tolerancia, y paciencia para quienes son o piensan diferente; la voluntad de pedir y otorgar perdón, son algunos de los ingredientes para una buena reunión familiar. Si, ¡quizás soy yo quien deba ser cambiado! Y esto puede ocurrir cuando permitimos al Espíritu Santo que llene y transforme nuestro ser interior. Señor, hazme un instrumento de Tu paz …
Psalms 133: Blessed Unity of the People of God.
1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

One of the activities on the weekends is to spend time with family or friends. However, “I frequently encounter people who cannot deal with someone in their family. Either their mother-in-law is a witch, or their uncle who is a bum, or they have a father who treats them as if they were never born.” [Max Lucado]. We all know people who are like roses, they are beautiful people, but you cannot approach them without being hurt by their thorns. Today’s psalm draws our attention to a second component of the true enjoyment of family or friends: harmony or unity. “Not everything that is good is nice, and not everything that is nice is good. Unity among God’s people is such a remarkable blessing because it is both good and pleasing, and both to a high degree, indicated by the repetition of the how [in this brief psalm]. ” [Enduring Word]. David, the author of this psalm illustrates it by comparing it to the aromatic oil with which the host welcomed his visitor in the Middle East of yesteryear, or as the abundant morning dew of Mount Harmon, both symbolic of a strange and rich blessing. Acceptance of the neighbor as he is, tolerance, and patience for those who are or think differently; the willingness to ask and grant forgiveness are some of the ingredients for a good family reunion. Yes, maybe I’m the one who should be changed! And this can happen when we allow the Holy Spirit to fill and transform our inner self. Yes Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace…
