Números 10: Los israelitas salen de Sinaí.

1 El Señor dijo a Moisés: 2 «Hazte dos trompetas de plata trabajada, y úsalas para reunir al pueblo acampado y para dar la señal de ponerse en marcha. 3 Cuando ambas trompetas den el toque de reunión, toda la comunidad se reunirá contigo a la entrada de la Tienda de reunión. 4 Cuando solo una de ellas dé el toque, se reunirán contigo únicamente los jefes de las tribus de Israel. 5 Al primer toque de avance, se pondrán en marcha las tribus que acampan al este, 6 y al segundo toque las que acampan al sur. Es decir, la señal de partida será el toque de avance. 7 Cuando se quiera reunir a la comunidad, el toque de reunión que se dé será diferente.

8 »Las trompetas las tocarán los hijos de Aarón, los sacerdotes. Esto será un estatuto perpetuo para ustedes y sus descendientes.

9 »Cuando estén ya en su propia tierra y tengan que salir a la guerra contra el enemigo opresor, las trompetas darán la señal de combate. Entonces el Señor su Dios se acordará de ustedes y los salvará de sus enemigos.

10 »Cuando celebren fiestas en fechas solemnes o festival de luna nueva, también tocarán trompetas para anunciar los holocaustos y los sacrificios de comunión. Así Dios se acordará de ustedes. Yo soy el Señor su Dios».

Desde el Sinaí hasta Parán
11 El día veinte del segundo mes del año segundo, la nube se levantó del santuario donde están las tablas del pacto. 12 Entonces los israelitas avanzaron desde el desierto de Sinaí hasta el desierto de Parán, donde la nube se detuvo. 13 A la orden que el Señor dio por medio de Moisés, los israelitas emprendieron la marcha por primera vez.

14 Los primeros en partir fueron los escuadrones que marchaban bajo el estandarte del campamento de Judá. Los comandaba Naasón, hijo de Aminadab. 15 Natanael, hijo de Zuar, comandaba el escuadrón de la tribu de Isacar. 16 Eliab, hijo de Helón, comandaba el escuadrón de la tribu de Zabulón. 17 Entonces se desmontó el santuario, y los guersonitas y meraritas que lo transportaban se pusieron en marcha.

18 Les siguieron los escuadrones que marchaban bajo el estandarte del campamento de Rubén. Los comandaba Elisur, hijo de Sedeúr. 19 Selumiel, hijo de Zurisaday, comandaba el escuadrón de la tribu de Simeón 20 y Eliasaf, hijo de Deuel, comandaba el escuadrón de la tribu de Gad. 21 Luego partieron los coatitas, que llevaban las cosas sagradas. El santuario se levantaba antes de que ellos llegaran al próximo lugar de campamento.

22 Les siguieron los escuadrones que marchaban bajo el estandarte del campamento de Efraín. Los comandaba Elisama, hijo de Amiud. 23 Gamaliel, hijo de Pedasur, comandaba el escuadrón de la tribu de Manasés, 24 y Abidán, hijo de Gedeoni, comandaba el escuadrón de la tribu de Benjamín.

25 Por último, a la retaguardia de todos los campamentos, partieron los escuadrones que marchaban bajo el estandarte del campamento de Dan. Los comandaba Ajiezer, hijo de Amisaday. 26 Paguiel, hijo de Ocrán, comandaba el escuadrón de la tribu de Aser 27 y Ajirá, hijo de Enán, comandaba el escuadrón de la tribu de Neftalí. 28 Este era el orden de los escuadrones israelitas, cuando se ponían en marcha.

Moisés invita a Hobab
29 Entonces Moisés dijo al madianita Hobab, hijo de Reuel, que era su suegro:

—Estamos por partir hacia la tierra que el Señor prometió darnos. Ven con nosotros. Seremos generosos contigo, ya que el Señor ha prometido ser generoso con Israel.

30 —No, no iré —respondió Hobab—, quiero regresar a mi tierra y a mi familia.

31 —Por favor, no nos dejes —insistió Moisés—. Tú conoces bien los lugares del desierto donde debemos acampar. Tú serás nuestro guía. 32 Si vienes con nosotros, compartiremos contigo todo lo bueno que el Señor nos dé.

Israel se pone en marcha
33 Los israelitas partieron de la montaña del Señor y anduvieron por espacio de tres días, durante los cuales el arca del pacto del Señor marchaba al frente de ellos para buscarles un lugar donde acampar. 34 Cuando partían, la nube del Señor permanecía sobre ellos todo el día.

35 Cada vez que el arca se ponía en marcha, Moisés decía:

«¡Levántate, Señor!
Sean dispersados tus enemigos;
huyan de tu presencia los que te odian».

36 Pero cada vez que el arca se detenía, Moisés decía:

«¡Regresa, Señor,
a la incontable muchedumbre de Israel!».

“«Hazte dos trompetas de plata; las harás labradas a martillo. Y te servirán para convocar a la congregación y para dar la orden de poner en marcha los campamentos. Cuando se toquen las dos, toda la congregación se reunirá junto a ti a la puerta de la tienda de reunión.” [versículos 2 y 3, Nueva Biblia de Las Américas]. Un Dios detallista, que no solo dio todos los detalles de Tabernáculo, y el manual de operaciones y principios, sino también, en este capítulo, ¡les dio el sistema nacional de comunicaciones! Dos trompetas de plata hechas de obra de martillo se usarían para convocar y movilizar el campamento. Cada ocasión requería un sonido diferente que el pueblo debía distinguir. No solo los convocaría ellos a la batalla sino también haría que Dios se acuerde de ellos para ponerlos a salvo [versículo 9]. Las trompetas también se tocaban en momentos de alegría en las fechas solemnes sobre los holocaustos y sacrificios de paz. Que importante sería para el pueblo poder distinguir cada sonido de las trompetas. Entre las tantas ensordecedoras voces que el mundo ofrece, nos toca a nosotros reconocer la voz de Dios para cada circunstancia en nuestras vidas. A veces su voz es un estruendo y otras veces un silbo apacible. Usando las palabras de C.S. Lewis “… Dios nos susurra en nuestros placeres, nos habla a nuestra conciencia, pero grita en nuestro dolor. [El dolor] Es Su megáfono para despertar un mundo sordo” [El Problema del Dolor]. ¡Nosotros esperamos escuchar el sonido de otra trompeta que pondrá fin a nuestro dolor! [1 Tesalonicenses 4:16].

Numbers 10: The Israelites Leave Sinai.

1 The Lord said to Moses: 2 “Make two trumpets of hammered silver, and use them for calling the community together and for having the camps set out. 3 When both are sounded, the whole community is to assemble before you at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 4 If only one is sounded, the leaders—the heads of the clans of Israel—are to assemble before you. 5 When a trumpet blast is sounded, the tribes camping on the east are to set out. 6 At the sounding of a second blast, the camps on the south are to set out. The blast will be the signal for setting out. 7 To gather the assembly, blow the trumpets, but not with the signal for setting out.

8 “The sons of Aaron, the priests, are to blow the trumpets. This is to be a lasting ordinance for you and the generations to come. 9 When you go into battle in your own land against an enemy who is oppressing you, sound a blast on the trumpets. Then you will be remembered by the Lord your God and rescued from your enemies. 10 Also at your times of rejoicing—your appointed festivals and New Moon feasts—you are to sound the trumpets over your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, and they will be a memorial for you before your God. I am the Lord your God.”

The Israelites Leave Sinai
11 On the twentieth day of the second month of the second year, the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle of the covenant law. 12 Then the Israelites set out from the Desert of Sinai and traveled from place to place until the cloud came to rest in the Desert of Paran. 13 They set out, this first time, at the Lord’s command through Moses.

14 The divisions of the camp of Judah went first, under their standard. Nahshon son of Amminadab was in command. 15 Nethanel son of Zuar was over the division of the tribe of Issachar, 16 and Eliab son of Helon was over the division of the tribe of Zebulun. 17 Then the tabernacle was taken down, and the Gershonites and Merarites, who carried it, set out.

18 The divisions of the camp of Reuben went next, under their standard. Elizur son of Shedeur was in command. 19 Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai was over the division of the tribe of Simeon, 20 and Eliasaph son of Deuel was over the division of the tribe of Gad. 21 Then the Kohathites set out, carrying the holy things. The tabernacle was to be set up before they arrived.

22 The divisions of the camp of Ephraim went next, under their standard. Elishama son of Ammihud was in command. 23 Gamaliel son of Pedahzur was over the division of the tribe of Manasseh, 24 and Abidan son of Gideoni was over the division of the tribe of Benjamin.

25 Finally, as the rear guard for all the units, the divisions of the camp of Dan set out under their standard. Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai was in command. 26 Pagiel son of Okran was over the division of the tribe of Asher, 27 and Ahira son of Enan was over the division of the tribe of Naphtali. 28 This was the order of march for the Israelite divisions as they set out.

29 Now Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, “We are setting out for the place about which the Lord said, ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us and we will treat you well, for the Lord has promised good things to Israel.”

30 He answered, “No, I will not go; I am going back to my own land and my own people.”

31 But Moses said, “Please do not leave us. You know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you can be our eyes. 32 If you come with us, we will share with you whatever good things the Lord gives us.”

33 So they set out from the mountain of the Lord and traveled for three days. The ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them during those three days to find them a place to rest. 34 The cloud of the Lord was over them by day when they set out from the camp.

35 Whenever the ark set out, Moses said,

“Rise up, Lord!
May your enemies be scattered;
may your foes flee before you.”

36 Whenever it came to rest, he said,

“Return, Lord,
to the countless thousands of Israel.”

Reflexion by Noemi Dominguez:

“Make yourself two trumpets of silver; you shall make them hewn with a hammer. And they will serve you to summon the congregation and to give the order to start the camps. When the two are touched, the whole congregation will gather with you at the door of the tent of meeting.” [verses 2 and 3, New American Standard Bible]. A meticulous God, who not only gave all the details of the Tabernacle, and the manual of operations and principles, but also, in this chapter, gave them the national system of communications! Two silver trumpets made of hammer work were to be used to summon and mobilize the camp. Each occasion required a different sound that the people had to distinguish. Not only would he summon them to battle but he would also cause God to remember them to bring them to safety [verse 9]. Trumpets were also blown in times of joy on the solemn dates of burnt offerings and peace sacrifices. How important it would be for the people to be able to distinguish each sound of the trumpets. Among the many deafening voices that the world offers, it is up to us to recognize God’s voice for every circumstance in our lives. Sometimes his voice is a roar and other times a small whistle. In the words of C.S. Lewis “… God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks to our conscience, but cries out in our pain. [The pain] It is His megaphone to awaken a deaf world” [The Problem of Pain]. We hope to hear the sound of another trumpet that will put an end to our pain! [1 Thessalonians 4:16].
