Génesis 13: Abram y Lot se separan
1 SUBIO, pues, Abram de Egipto hacia el Mediodía, él y su mujer, con todo lo que tenía, y con él Lot.
2 Y Abram era riquísimo en ganado, en plata y oro.
3 Y volvió por sus jornadas de la parte del Mediodía hacia Bethel, hasta el lugar donde había estado antes su tienda entre Bethel y Hai;
4 Al lugar del altar que había hecho allí antes: é invocó allí Abram el nombre de Jehová.
5 Y asimismo Lot, que andaba con Abram, tenía ovejas, y vacas, y tiendas.
6 Y la tierra no podía darles para que habitasen juntos: porque su hacienda era mucha, y no podían morar en un mismo lugar.
7 Y hubo contienda entre los pastores del ganado de Abram y los pastores del ganado de Lot: y el Cananeo y el Pherezeo habitaban entonces en la tierra.
8 Entonces Abram dijo á Lot: No haya ahora altercado entre mí y ti, entre mis pastores y los tuyos, porque somos hermanos.
9 ¿No está toda la tierra delante de ti? Yo te ruego que te apartes de mí. Si fueres á la mano izquierda, yo iré á la derecha: y si tú á la derecha, yo iré á la izquierda.
10 Y alzó Lot sus ojos, y vió toda la llanura del Jordán, que toda ella era de riego, antes que destruyese Jehová á Sodoma y á Gomorra, como el huerto de Jehová, como la tierra de Egipto entrando en Zoar.
11 Entonces Lot escogió para sí toda la llanura del Jordán: y partióse Lot de Oriente, y apartáronse el uno del otro.
12 Abram asentó en la tierra de Canaán, y Lot asentó en las ciudades de la llanura, y fué poniendo sus tiendas hasta Sodoma.
13 Mas los hombres de Sodoma eran malos y pecadores para con Jehová en gran manera.
14 Y Jehová dijo á Abram, después que Lot se apartó de él: Alza ahora tus ojos, y mira desde el lugar donde estás hacia el Aquilón, y al Mediodía, y al Oriente y al Occidente;
15 Porque toda la tierra que ves, la daré á ti y á tu simiente para siempre.
16 Y haré tu simiente como el polvo de la tierra: que si alguno podrá contar el polvo de la tierra, también tu simiente será contada.
17 Levántate, ve por la tierra á lo largo de ella y á su ancho; porque á ti la tengo de dar.
18 Abram, pues, removiendo su tienda, vino y moró en el alcornocal de Mamre, que es en Hebrón, y edificó allí altar á Jehová.

“Así que Abram dijo a Lot: — No quiero que haya altercados entre nosotros dos ni entre nuestros pastores, porque somos hermanos.” [versículo 8, La Palabra (España]. Nos encontramos aquí con dos personajes sumamente ricos y poderosos, a tal punto que era imposible vivir en el mismo lugar porque sus pastores se peleaban continuamente. Esto dificultaba las relaciones familiares. Supongo que Abram amaba la paz y también amaba a su sobrino Lot, pero no vio otra solución más que separarse. Veo que Abram era un hombre honorable y desinteresado porque a pesar de ser el tío y el mayor, dio a su sobrino la opción de elegir. No es fácil ceder a otros lo mejor, pero ahí está la bendición, y ahí es cuando Dios da más de lo que esperamos. Desgraciadamente los ojos de Lot vieron la llanura fértil y eso fue lo que eligió. Lamentablemente, su elección hizo que eventualmente conviviera con los perversos hombres de Sodoma. Abram recibe más, “toda la tierra que ves te la daré a ti y a tu descendencia.” [versículo 15, Reina Varela 1960]. Cuando Dios muestra el camino a tomar: el escoger tu cónyuge, el lugar donde congregarte y servirle, la carrera universitaria, o el lugar donde vivir, y sientes la paz de Dios acerca de la decisión que has tomado, ahí hay bendición. No permitas que tus ojos se deslumbren con las cosas temporales de este mundo, las riquezas, la fama o el poder, porque el fin no será bueno. Señor, antes de tomar nuevas decisiones te ruego que Tu paz me guíe porque yo sé que Tú me darás “la mejor parte.”
Genesis 13:Abram Inherits Canaan
1 And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.
2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
3 And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai;
4 Unto the place of the altar, which he had make there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the Lord.
5 And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.
6 And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.
7 And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram’s cattle and the herdmen of Lot’s cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.
8 And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.
9 Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.
10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.
11 Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.
12 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.
13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.
14 And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.
18 Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord.

” Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not have fighting between us, between your shepherds and my shepherds. After all, we’re family.” [verse 8, The Message]. Here we find two extremely rich and powerful characters, to the point that it was impossible to live in the same place because their shepherds were fighting each other all the time. This made family relationships difficult. I suppose Abram loved peace and also loved his nephew Lot, but he saw no other solution but to separate. I note that Abram was an honorable and unselfish man because despite being the uncle and older than Lot, he gave his nephew the option to choose. It’s not easy to give the best to others, but therein lies the blessing, and that’s when God gives more than we expect. Unfortunately, Lot’s eyes saw the fertile plain, and that was what he chose for himself. Sadly, his choice eventually caused him to live with the wicked men of Sodom. Abram receives more, “Everything you see, the whole land spread out before you, I will give to you and your children forever.” [verse 15, The Message]. When God shows you the way to go—choosing your spouse, the church to gather and serve Him, your major in college, or the place to live—and you feel God’s peace about the decision you’ve made, there is blessing. Do not let your eyes be dazzled by the temporal things of this world, riches, fame, or power, for the end will not be good. Lord, before I make any new decisions, I pray that Your peace will guide me because I know You will give me “the best part.”
