Salmos 12: Oración pidiendo ayuda contra los malos.

1 Sálvanos, Señor, que ya no hay gente fiel;
entre los seres humanos ya no hay en quien confiar.
2 No hacen sino mentirse unos a otros;
sus labios son aduladores e hipócritas.

3 Corte el Señor todo labio lisonjero
y toda lengua jactanciosa
4 que dice: «Venceremos con la lengua;
en nuestros labios confiamos.
¿Quién puede dominarnos a nosotros?».

5 «Por la aflicción de los oprimidos
y por el gemido del pobre,
voy a levantarme», dice el Señor,
«y los pondré a salvo de quienes los oprimen».
6 Las palabras del Señor son puras,
son como la plata refinada,
siete veces purificada en el crisol.

7 Tú, Señor, los protegerás;
tú siempre los defenderás de esta gente.
8 Los malvados merodean por todas partes,
cuando la vileza es exaltada entre los seres humanos.

“Tú, Señor, los protegerás; tú siempre los defenderás de esta gente. Los malvados merodean por todas partes, cuando la vileza es exaltada entre los seres humanos.” [versículos 7 y 8, NVI]. ¡Balazos, no abrazos! Esta manera de decirlo refleja la triste realidad que estamos viviendo. En el 2024 se cometieron 298 homicidios en la ciudad de Houston. No hay nada nuevo bajo el sol; David lo experimentó hace muchos siglos. Hay inseguridad en las calles, hay temor de terrorismo donde se aglomera la gente, tenemos que cuidarnos aun al cargar gasolina, el tráfico humano impide que dejemos a los niños jugar libremente en los parques o en las calles. No hay confianza ni aun en la gente uniformada. Es verdad, el crimen, la violencia en general y la maldad del hombre no han cambiado, pero tampoco Dios ha cambiado. Dios sigue guardando a los suyos. “Tú, Señor, nos protegerás; tú siempre nos defenderás de esta gente, aun cuando los malvados sigan merodeando, la maldad sea exaltada en este mundo” afirma David [versículo 7 y 8, Nueva versión Internacional]. “Confiadamente, entonces, puedo aquí vivir sin recelos ni cuidados por mi porvenir. Pues mi Padre Dios me asiste con divino amor, siendo aquel que me sostiene Cristo el Salvador.” [J. Fuller]. A pesar de la oscuridad que nos rodea, podemos descansar en la fidelidad de Dios, quien sigue siendo nuestro guardián y protector. Que esta verdad nos llene de paz y esperanza, sabiendo que, a pesar de los desafíos, Él está con nosotros.

1 Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore;
those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.
2 Everyone lies to their neighbor;
they flatter with their lips
but harbor deception in their hearts.

3 May the Lord silence all flattering lips
and every boastful tongue—
4 those who say,
“By our tongues we will prevail;
our own lips will defend us—who is lord over us?”

5 “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan,
I will now arise,” says the Lord.
“I will protect them from those who malign them.”
6 And the words of the Lord are flawless,
like silver purified in a crucible,

7 You, Lord, will keep the needy safe
and will protect us forever from the wicked,
8 who freely strut about
when what is vile is honored by the human race.

“You, Lord, will protect them; you will keep us safe from this generation forever. The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored by the human race.” [Verses 7 and 8, NIV] “Bullets, not hugs!” This phrase reflects the sad reality we are living in. In 2024, 298 homicides were committed in the city of Houston. There is nothing new under the sun; David experienced the same thing many centuries ago. There is insecurity on the streets, fear of terrorism where people gather, we have to be cautious even when pumping gas, human trafficking prevents us from letting children play freely in parks or streets. There is no trust, not even in people in uniform. It is true that crime, violence in general, and the evil of humanity have not changed, but neither has God changed. God continues to protect His own. “You, Lord, will protect us; you will always defend us from this people, even when the wicked continue to roam and wickedness is exalted in this world,” declares David [Verses 7 and 8, NIV]. “Confidently, then, I can live here without doubts or concerns about my future. For my Father God assists me with divine love, being the one who sustains me, Christ the Savior.” [J. Fuller].Despite the darkness surrounding us, we can rest in the faithfulness of God, who continues to be our guardian and protector. May this truth fill us with peace and hope, knowing that, despite the challenges, He is with us.
