Salmos 11: El refugio del justo.

1 En el Señor hallo refugio.
¿Cómo se atreven a decirme:
«Huye al monte como las aves»?
2 Vean cómo tensan sus arcos los malvados:
preparan las flechas sobre la cuerda
para disparar desde las sombras
contra los que son rectos de corazón.
3 Cuando los fundamentos son destruidos,
¿qué le queda al justo?

4 El Señor está en su santo Templo,
en los cielos tiene el Señor su trono
y atentamente observa al ser humano;
con sus propios ojos lo examina.
5 El Señor examina a justos,
pero aborrece a malvados
y a los que aman la violencia.
6 Hará llover sobre los malvados
ardientes brasas y candente azufre;
¡un viento abrasador será la porción de su copa!

7 Porque el Señor es justo y ama la justicia,
los rectos contemplarán su rostro.

“En el Señor hallo refugio. ¿Cómo se atreven a decirme: «Huye al monte como las aves»? [versículo 1, NVI]. Tú también recordaras haber visto algún cuadro con esta inscripción: “Jesús es supremo en este hogar, Huésped invisible en nuestra mesa, Oyente silencioso en nuestra conversación”. Siempre me costó mucho que mis pequeñas nietas entendieran que Dios las estaba viendo constantemente. En su inocencia a veces decían que ellas se esconderían en un armario o en un cajón de la cocina donde Dios nos las podría ver. Aunque esto es risueño, muchos adultos solo se preocupan si hay alguien alrededor que los pueda ver cuando hacen algo incorrecto. El salmo de hoy [versículos 4 y 5] afirma que Dios habita en Su santo templo – el cielo mismo – y desde allí Sus ojos ven y sus “parpados” examinan a los hombres. Al malo y al que ama la violencia su alma aborrece. También “El Señor recorre toda la tierra con su mirada para fortalecer a los que le son plenamente fieles [2 Crónicas 16:8-10 Versión La Palabra (España)].” Tus ojos revelan que yo nada puedo esconder. Que no soy nada sin ti, Oh fiel Señor. Todo lo sabes de mí cuando miras el corazón todo lo puedes ver muy dentro de mí. Lleva mi vida a una sola verdad que cuando me miras nada puedo ocultar. Sé que es tu fidelidad que lleva mi vida más allá delo que puedo imaginar. Sé que no puedo negar que tu mirada puesta em mí me llena de tu paz” [M. Witt].

1 In the Lord I take refuge.
How then can you say to me:
“Flee like a bird to your mountain.
2 For look, the wicked bend their bows;
they set their arrows against the strings
to shoot from the shadows
at the upright in heart.
3 When the foundations are being destroyed,
what can the righteous do?”

4 The Lord is in his holy temple;
the Lord is on his heavenly throne.
He observes everyone on earth;
his eyes examine them.
5 The Lord examines the righteous,
but the wicked, those who love violence,
he hates with a passion.
6 On the wicked he will rain
fiery coals and burning sulfur;
a scorching wind will be their lot.

7 For the Lord is righteous,
he loves justice;
the upright will see his face.

“In the Lord I take refuge. How then can you say to me: ‘Flee like a bird to your mountain’?” [Verse 1, NIV]. You might also recall seeing a plaque or painting with the inscription: “Christ is the head of this house, the unseen guest at every meal, the silent listener to every conversation.” I always found it challenging to help my young granddaughters understand that God is always watching them. In their innocence, they would sometimes say they would hide in a closet or a kitchen drawer where God couldn’t see them. Though this is amusing, many adults only worry about being seen by others when they are doing something wrong. Today’s psalm [verses 4 and 5] declares that God dwells in His holy temple—heaven itself—and from there His eyes see, and His “eyelids” examine all of humanity. His soul hates the wicked and those who love violence. It also says: “The Lord’s eyes roam throughout the earth to strengthen those who are fully committed to Him” [2 Chronicles 16:8-10, The Word Version (Spain)].“Your eyes reveal that I cannot hide a thing. That I am nothing without You, oh faithful Lord. You know everything about me when You look into my heart; You can see everything deep within me. Lead my life to a single truth: that when You look at me, I can hide nothing. I know it is Your faithfulness that carries my life beyond what I can imagine. I know I cannot deny that Your gaze upon me fills me with Your peace” [M. Witt].
