“A ti, oh Jehová, levantaré mi alma. Dios mío, en ti confío; … [versículos 1 y 2, NBLA]. “Mientras su padre moría de Covid-19 en el Centro Médico de la Universidad de Richmond en Staten Island, Andreas Koutsoudakis Jr. le envió un mensaje final a través de una enfermera: “Su hijo no puede estar aquí, pero llama cada hora en punto, y tu familia te extraña “. [WSJ, Abril 5]. Recordamos con dolor los días en los cuales la mayoría de nosotros pasamos tanto tiempo con nuestra familia íntima, mientras, paradójicamente, había tantos otros en cuidado intensivo que estaban experimentando una profunda soledad en sus últimos momentos de sus vidas. Recordamos los últimos momentos de la vida terrenal de Jesús; bien podrían los versículos 16 y 17 del Salmo que hoy nos ocupa ser un pálido reflejo de su corazón: “Mírame, Señor, y ten compasión de mí, porque estoy solo y afligido. Dios el Padre pudo, pero no quiso. “Me asombra el amor que me ofrece el Señor Jesús, su gracia tan grande no puedo explicarme yo, y tiemblo al saber que por mí padeció en la cruz; por mí, pecador vil, su sangre preciosa dio. ¡Qué maravilla es, que Él me amara así, hasta morir por mí! ¡Qué maravilla es, Él murió por mí!” [Charles H. 1 In you, Lord my God,
I put my trust.

2 I trust in you;
do not let me be put to shame,
nor let my enemies triumph over me.
3 No one who hopes in you
will ever be put to shame,
but shame will come on those
who are treacherous without cause.

4 Show me your ways, Lord,
teach me your paths.
5 Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.
6 Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth
and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me,
for you, Lord, are good.

therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.

“To you, O Lord, I pray. Don’t fail me, Lord, for I am trusting you …” [verses 1 and 2, Living Bible]. “As his father lay dying of Covid-19 at Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, Andreas Koutsoudakis Jr. sent him a final message through a nurse: “Your son can’t be here, but he calls every hour on the hour, and your family misses you.” [WSJ, April 5, 2020]. We remember those days when most of us spent so much time with our immediate family, and paradoxically, there were so many others in intensive care that are experiencing deep loneliness in their last moments of their lives. As we recall the last moments of Jesus’ earthly life, we might well see in verses 16 and 17 of the Psalm that we are dealing with today, a pale reflection of our Savior’s heart: ” Come, Lord, and show me your mercy, for I am helpless, overwhelmed, in deep distress; 17 my problems go from bad to worse. Oh, save me from them all!” [Living Bible]. Mr. Koutsoudakis received his son’s message with a big smile. In the story of our redemption, it is the Son who dies, and the Father does not smile. Andreas Koutsoudakis Jr. couldn’t do anything to save his father. God the Father could, but he wouldn’t. “I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene, and wonder how He could love me, A sinner condemned, unclean. How marvelous! How wonderful! And my song shall ever be: How marvelous! How wonderful! Is my Savior’s love for me! [Charles H. Gabriel].
