Habacuc 1: Protesta de Habacuc
1 LA carga que vió Habacuc profeta.
2 ¿Hasta cuándo, oh Jehová, clamaré, y no oirás; y daré voces á ti á causa de la violencia, y no salvarás?
3 ¿Por qué me haces ver iniquidad, y haces que mire molestia, y saco y violencia delante de mí, habiendo además quien levante pleito y contienda?
4 Por lo cual la ley es debilitada, y el juicio no sale verdadero: por cuanto el impío asedia al justo, por eso sale torcido el juicio.
5 Mirad en las gentes, y ved, y maravillaos pasmosamente; porque obra será hecha en vuestros días, que aun cuando se os contare, no la creeréis.
6 Porque he aquí, yo levanto los Caldeos, gente amarga y presurosa, que camina por la anchura de la tierra para poseer las habitaciones ajenas.
7 Espantosa es y terrible: de ella misma saldrá su derecho y su grandeza.
8 Y serán sus caballos más ligeros que tigres, y más agudos que lobos de tarde; y sus jinetes se multiplicarán: vendrán de lejos sus caballeros, y volarán como águilas que se apresuran á la comida.
9 Toda ella vendrá á la presa: delante su sus caras viento solano; y juntará cautivos como arena.
10 Y escarnecerá de los reyes, y de los príncipes hará burla: reiráse de toda fortaleza, y amontonará polvo, y la tomará.
11 Luego mudará espíritu, y pasará adelante, y ofenderá atribuyendo esta su potencia á su dios.
12 ¿No eres tú desde el principio, oh Jehová, Dios mío, Santo mío? No moriremos. Oh Jehová, para juicio lo pusiste; y tú, oh Roca, lo fundaste para castigar.
13 Muy limpio eres de ojos para ver el mal, ni puedes ver el agravio: ¿por qué ves los menospreciadores, y callas cuando destruye el impío al más justo que él.
14 Y haces que sean los hombres como los peces de la mar, como reptiles que no tienen señor?
15 Sacará á todos con anzuelo, cogerálos con su red, y juntarálos en su aljerife: por lo cual se holgará y hará alegrías.
16 Por esto hará sacrificios á su red, y ofrecerá sahumerios á su aljerife: porque con ellos engordó su porción, y engrasó su comida.
17 ¿Vaciará por eso su red, ó tendrá piedad de matar gentes continuamente?

¿Hasta cuando? Las preguntas sin respuesta. A menudo nos encontramos con situaciones para las cuales no tenemos explicación. Fracasos comerciales, desastres naturales, enfermedades, accidentes; pérdida de vida de inocentes bebés, entre otras situaciones generan en nosotros la pregunta para la cual nadie en este mundo tiene la respuesta: ¿Por qué? y más específicamente, ¿por qué sufren los buenos? Ni la tibia respuesta de los teólogos, ni la de los más fanáticos ateos traen consuelo al muchas veces desgarrado corazón. Estas situaciones constituyen las más grandes crisis de fe. En las extremas pruebas de la fe Job declaró: “Aunque el Señor me mate, yo en él confío.” [Job 13:150. Una fe más sólida que una roca. Solo la gracia de Dios manifestada por Su Espíritu Santo puede darnos la humilde resignación ante los incomprensibles e inescrutables designios Divinos. No se si lo entenderemos alguna vez durante nuestra vida terrenal, pero abrigamos esperanza en las palabras de Jesus al Apóstol Pedro: “Lo que yo hago, tú no lo comprendes ahora; mas lo entenderás después.” Al mirar atrás recuerdo tiempos de dolor y angustia, situaciones incompresibles en su momento; en situaciones sumamente “negativas” desde el punto de vista terrenal, Dios lo usó para bien. Señor, no permitas que nunca dude de Ti; que nunca cuestione Tu soberanía porque sé que Tu soberanía no esta divorciada de Tu obstinado amor; aunque yo no entienda nada de lo que está ocurriendo.” Que lo sabe todo el Padre, es mi certitud, y que en gracia él por mí vela, con solicitud. Todo cuanto Dios permita obra para bien, y deseo solamente responderle “Amén.” Bien sé yo que lo futuro en su mano está; con desvelo permanente El me guiará; aunque en mi camino encuentre, penas y dolor, siempre tras las fuertes pruebas, veo su favor. Habakkuk 1: The Prophet Questions God’s Judgments
1 The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see.
2 O Lord, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save!
3 Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention.
4 Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.
5 Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvelously: for I will work a work in your days which ye will not believe, though it be told you.
6 For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not their’s.
7 They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves.
8 Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat.
9 They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up as the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand.
10 And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it.
11 Then shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and offend, imputing this his power unto his god.
12 Art thou not from everlasting, O Lord my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O Lord, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction.
13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?
14 And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them?
15 They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad.
16 Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous.
17 Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the nations?

How long? The unanswered questions. We often encounter situations for which we have no explanation. Business failures, natural disasters, diseases, accidents; The loss of life of innocent babies, among other situations, generate in us the question to which no one in this world has the answer: Why? And more specifically, why do the good guys suffer? Neither the lukewarm response of theologians nor that of the most fanatical atheists brings comfort to the often torn heart. These situations constitute the greatest crises of faith. In the extreme tests of faith, Job declared, “Though the Lord kill me, yet I trust in him.” [Job 13:150. A faith stronger than a rock. Only the grace of God manifested by His Holy Spirit can give us humble resignation to God’s incomprehensible and inscrutable designs. I don’t know if we’ll ever understand it during our earthly lives, but we have hope in Jesus’ words to the Apostle Peter: “What I do, you do not understand now; but you will understand later.” Looking back, I remember times of pain and anguish, situations that were incomprehensible at the time; in situations that were extremely “negative” from an earthly point of view, God used it for good. Lord, never let me doubt You; may I never question Your sovereignty because I know that Your sovereignty is not divorced from Your stubborn love; even if I don’t understand anything that’s going on.”Precious thought— my Father knoweth! In His love I rest: For whate’er my Father doeth must be always best; well I know the heart that planneth naught but good for me; joy and sorrow interwoven, love in all I see.” [Fuller]
