1 Pablo, Silvano y Timoteo,

a la iglesia de los tesalonicenses, unida a Dios nuestro Padre y al Señor Jesucristo:

2 Gracia y paz a ustedes, de Dios el Padre y el Señor Jesucristo.

3 Hermanos, siempre debemos dar gracias a Dios por ustedes, como es justo, porque su fe se acrecienta cada vez más y en cada uno de ustedes sigue abundando el amor hacia los otros. 4 Así que nos sentimos orgullosos de ustedes ante las iglesias de Dios por la perseverancia y la fe que muestran al soportar toda clase de persecuciones y sufrimientos. 5 Todo esto prueba que el juicio de Dios es justo y, por tanto, él los considera dignos de su reino, por el cual están sufriendo.

6 Dios, que es justo, pagará con sufrimiento a quienes los hacen sufrir a ustedes. 7 Y a ustedes que sufren, les dará descanso, lo mismo que a nosotros. Esto sucederá cuando el Señor Jesús se manifieste desde el cielo entre llamas de fuego, con sus poderosos ángeles, 8 para castigar a los que no conocen a Dios ni obedecen el evangelio de nuestro Señor Jesús. 9 Ellos sufrirán el castigo de la destrucción eterna, lejos de la presencia del Señor y de su glorioso poder, 10 el día en que venga para ser glorificado por su pueblo santo y admirado por todos los que hayan creído, entre los cuales están ustedes porque creyeron el testimonio que dimos.

11 Por eso oramos constantemente por ustedes, para que nuestro Dios los considere dignos del llamamiento que les ha hecho, y por su poder cumpla todo propósito de bien y toda obra que realicen por la fe. 12 Oramos así, de modo que el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesús sea glorificado por medio de ustedes, y ustedes por él, conforme a la gracia de nuestro Dios y del Señor Jesucristo.

La importancia de permanecer firmes en lo que hemos creído, cimentados sobre la Roca inconmovible que es Cristo Jesús, no puede ser subestimada. Esta firmeza nos da fuerzas cada día para soportar injusticias, maltratos e incluso persecuciones, porque sabemos que Dios es justo y que está atento a todo lo que nos ocurre. Su justicia perfecta nos consuela y nos da esperanza. Cuando nosotros o nuestros seres queridos somos lastimados, es tentador querer tomar la justicia en nuestras manos. Sin embargo, debemos recordar que el descanso verdadero llega cuando confiamos en el Divino Juez y ponemos en acción nuestra paciencia. Es como si viajáramos por una carretera y de repente nos encontráramos con un anuncio que dice: “Desvío”. Esto puede generar irritación o frustración por la pérdida de tiempo, pero al encontrar una señal que nos conduce de nuevo a la ruta original, sentimos alivio y tranquilidad. De manera similar, en la vida enfrentamos situaciones que parecen sin sentido. No siempre entendemos por qué ocurren o cuál es el propósito por lo cual Dios lo permitió. Sin embargo, en esas circunstancias, si descansamos en la soberana gracia de Dios, podemos experimentar paz. Cuando confiamos plenamente en Él, Jesús es glorificado en nosotros, y nosotros somos glorificados en Él. 2 Thessalonians 1: Thanksgiving and Prayer.

To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters,[b] and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing. 4 Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring.

5 All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. 6 God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you 7 and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. 8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might 10 on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.

11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. 12 We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

“We’re so proud of you; you’re so steady and determined in your faith despite all the hard times that have broadsided you. We tell everyone we meet in the churches all about you..” [Verse 4, The Message]. The importance of standing firm in what we have believed, grounded on the unshakable Rock that is Christ Jesus, cannot be underestimated. This firmness gives us strength every day to endure injustices, mistreatment, and even persecutions, because we know that God is just and is attentive to everything that happens to us. His perfect justice comforts us and gives us hope. When we or our loved ones are hurt, it is tempting to want to take justice into our own hands. However, we must remember that true rest comes when we trust in the Divine Judge and put our patience into action. It is like traveling on a road and suddenly encountering a sign that says: “Detour.” This can cause irritation or frustration due to the lost time, but when we find a sign that leads us back to the original route, we feel relief and peace. Similarly, in life, we face situations that seem meaningless. We do not always understand why they occur or what purpose God had in allowing them. However, in those circumstances, if we rest in God’s sovereign grace, we can experience peace. When we fully trust in Him, Jesus is glorified in us, and we are glorified in Him. This trust not only strengthens us but also bears witness to His power and love in our lives.
