1 Hazme justicia, Señor,
pues he vivido en integridad;
¡en el Señor confío sin titubear!
2 Examíname, Señor, ¡ponme a prueba!,
purifica mi corazón y mi mente.
3 Tu gran amor lo tengo presente
y siempre ando en tu verdad.

4 Yo no convivo con los mentirosos
ni me junto con los hipócritas;
5 aborrezco la compañía de los malvados;
no cultivo la amistad de los perversos.
6 Con manos limpias e inocentes
camino, Señor, en torno a tu altar,
7 proclamando en voz alta tu alabanza
y contando todas tus maravillas.

8 Señor, yo amo la casa donde vives,
el lugar donde reside tu gloria.
9 No me quites la vida junto a los pecadores
ni me hagas correr la suerte de los asesinos,
10 entre gente que tiene las manos
llenas de artimañas y sobornos.
11 Yo, en cambio, vivo en integridad;
líbrame y compadécete de mí.

12 Tengo los pies en terreno firme

Escudríñame, oh Jehová, y pruébame; Examina mis íntimos pensamientos y mi corazón.” [versículo 2, RVR 1960]. “… a menudo cuando decimos que no estamos calificados para algo, lo que realmente estamos diciendo es que tenemos demasiado miedo para intentarlo, no es que no podamos hacerlo.” [Jen Sincero]. Ayer, mi nieta, a pesar de ser muy estudiosa, manifestaba temor de no aprobar un examen. No solo los estudiantes temen al examen; los adultos que toman un examen de ciudadanía también experimentan temor. ¡Y qué diremos de la ansiosa y larga espera de resultados cuando hemos ido a un examen médico y no nos dan la respuesta inmediatamente! Generalmente, no nos sometemos voluntariamente a los exámenes, pero David así lo hace en el versículo 2: “Examíname, oh, Señor, y pruébame; escudriña mi mente y mi corazón.” [Versión Nueva Biblia de las Américas]. Un examen de mente y corazón, cosas que un MRI no puede detectar. Solo Dios puede llegar a lo profundo del ser. Probablemente, el versículo 3 nos revele el secreto de la osadía de someterse a un examen tan riguroso: “Porque delante de mis ojos está Tu misericordia.” [Versión Nueva Biblia de las Américas]. Como dice Lamentaciones 3:22: “Por la misericordia del Señor no hemos sido consumidos; ¡nunca su misericordia se ha agotado!” [Versión Reina Valera Contemporánea]. Pablo nos exhorta: “Haz todo lo que sea posible para presentarte ante Dios aprobado, como un obrero que no tiene de qué avergonzarse porque interpreta correctamente la palabra de Dios.” [2 Timoteo 2:15, Versión Nueva Biblia Viva]. No tengas miedo. Tú puedes hacerlo. ¡Dios te dará las fuerzas!

1 Vindicate me, Lord,
for I have led a blameless life;
I have trusted in the Lord
and have not faltered.
2 Test me, Lord, and try me,
examine my heart and my mind;
3 for I have always been mindful of your unfailing love
and have lived in reliance on your faithfulness.

4 I do not sit with the deceitful,
nor do I associate with hypocrites.
5 I abhor the assembly of evildoers
and refuse to sit with the wicked.
6 I wash my hands in innocence,
and go about your altar, Lord,
7 proclaiming aloud your praise
and telling of all your wonderful deeds.

“Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my mind and my heart.” (v.2, NKJV). Author Jen Sincero once said, “Often when we say we’re not qualified for something, what we’re really saying is we’re too afraid to try—it’s not that we can’t do it.” Yesterday, my granddaughter—despite being an excellent student—confessed she was afraid of failing a test. She’s not alone. Fear of tests is common, whether it’s a school exam, a citizenship interview, or even the dreaded wait for medical results. Most of us don’t voluntarily submit to testing, but David boldly does so in verse 2: “Examine me, Lord, and try me; test my mind and my heart.” (NASB). He invites God to inspect what no MRI or machine can detect—the inner world of thoughts and motives. Why would anyone dare to ask for such a deep and thorough evaluation? Verse 3 gives us the answer: “For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes.” (NASB). That’s the key—David wasn’t trusting in his own perfection but in God’s unfailing mercy. As Lamentations 3:22 reminds us, “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.” (NIV). The Apostle Paul encourages us with these words: “Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15, NLT). Don’t be afraid. You can do this. God will give you the strength you need. Trust Him through the test.
