Números 28: La Pascua.

1 El Señor dijo a Moisés: 2 «Ordénale al pueblo de Israel que se asegure de presentar mi ofrenda puesta al fuego en el día señalado. Esa ofrenda puesta al fuego y de aroma grato es mi comida.

Sacrificio diario
3 »Dile también al pueblo: “Esta es la ofrenda puesta al fuego que todos los días deben traer al Señor para el holocausto continuo: dos corderos de un año y sin defecto”. 4 Al despuntar el día, ofrecerás un cordero y al caer la tarde, el otro, 5 junto con la décima parte de un efa[a] de harina refinada mezclada con un cuarto de hin[b] de aceite de oliva. 6 Este es el holocausto diario, instituido en el monte Sinaí como ofrenda puesta al fuego cuyo aroma es grato al Señor. 7 Con cada cordero ofrecerás un cuarto de hin de bebida fermentada, como ofrenda líquida, la cual derramarás en el santuario en honor del Señor. 8 El segundo cordero lo sacrificarás al caer la tarde, junto con una ofrenda de cereales y una ofrenda líquida como las presentadas en la mañana. Es una ofrenda puesta al fuego cuyo aroma es grato al Señor.

Ofrendas del sábado
9 »Cada sábado ofrecerás dos corderos de un año y sin defecto, junto con una ofrenda líquida y una ofrenda de dos décimas partes de un efa[c] de harina refinada mezclada con aceite. 10 Este es el holocausto de cada sábado, además del holocausto que cada día se ofrece con su ofrenda líquida.

Ofrenda mensual
11 »Cada primer día del mes presentarás, como tu holocausto al Señor, dos terneros, un carnero y siete corderos de un año y sin defecto. 12 Con cada novillo presentarás también una ofrenda de tres décimas partes de un efa[d] de harina refinada mezclada con aceite; con el carnero, dos décimas partes de un efa de harina refinada mezclada con aceite; 13 y con cada cordero, una décima parte de un efa de harina refinada mezclada con aceite. Este será un holocausto, una ofrenda puesta al fuego cuyo aroma es grato al Señor. 14 Las ofrendas líquidas serán las siguientes: Con cada novillo presentarás medio hin[e] de vino; con el carnero, un tercio de hin[f] de vino, y con cada cordero, un cuarto de hin[g] de vino. Este es el holocausto que debes presentar durante todo el año, una vez al mes, en el día de luna nueva. 15 Además del holocausto diario y su ofrenda líquida, también presentarás al Señor, como sacrificio por el perdón de pecados, un macho cabrío.

La Pascua
16 »La Pascua del Señor se celebrará el día catorce del mes primero. 17 El día quince del mismo mes celebrarás una fiesta y durante siete días comerás pan sin levadura. 18 El primer día celebrarás una asamblea sagrada; no se hará ningún trabajo. 19 Presentarás al Señor una ofrenda puesta al fuego, un holocausto que consistirá en dos terneros, un carnero y siete corderos de un año. Fiesta de las Semanas
26 »Durante la fiesta de las Semanas, presentarás al Señor una ofrenda de grano nuevo en el día de las primicias, y celebrarás también una asamblea sagrada en su honor. Ese día no harás ningún trabajo. 27 Ofrecerás dos terneros, un carnero y siete corderos de un año, como holocausto de aroma grato al Señor. 28 Con cada novillo presentarás una ofrenda de tres décimas de un efa[i] de harina refinada mezclada con aceite; con el carnero, dos décimas de esa misma harina; 29 y con cada uno de los siete corderos, la décima parte de un efa. 30 Incluirás también un macho cabrío para pedir perdón en tu favor. 31 Presentarás todo esto junto con sus ofrendas líquidas, además del holocausto diario y su ofrenda líquida. “Cristo sufrió por nuestros pecados una sola vez y para siempre. Él nunca pecó, en cambio, murió por los pecadores para llevarlos a salvo con Dios. Sufrió la muerte física, pero volvió a la vida en el Espíritu” [1 Pedro 3:18, Nueva Traducción Viviente]. Que gran contraste nos ofrece este párrafo al compararlo con los capítulos 28 y 29 de Números, donde se detallan los sacrificios a los cuales el pueblo judío estaba obligado a celebrar. Dios le habló a Moisés y le dijo como específicamente y con medidas exactas debía cada uno de ellos llevarse a cabo. Toda esta liturgia fue reducida a una más simple recordación: su cuerpo representado por el pan y el nuevo pacto en Su sangre representado por el fruto de la vid. Simple, pero a la vez profundo. Y que debemos hacer nosotros? “Así que, ofrezcamos siempre a Dios, por medio de él, sacrificio de alabanza, es decir, fruto de labios que confiesan su nombre. Y de hacer bien y de la ayuda mutua no os olvidéis; porque de tales sacrificios se agrada Dios” [hebreos 13:15 y 16].

Numbers 28: The Passover.

1 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Give this command to the Israelites and say to them: ‘Make sure that you present to me at the appointed time my food offerings, as an aroma pleasing to me.’ 3 Say to them: ‘This is the food offering you are to present to the Lord: two lambs a year old without defect, as a regular burnt offering each day. 4 Offer one lamb in the morning and the other at twilight, 5 together with a grain offering of a tenth of an ephah[a] of the finest flour mixed with a quarter of a hin[b] of oil from pressed olives. 6 This is the regular burnt offering instituted at Mount Sinai as a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the Lord. 7 The accompanying drink offering is to be a quarter of a hin of fermented drink with each lamb. Pour out the drink offering to the Lord at the sanctuary. 8 Offer the second lamb at twilight, along with the same kind of grain offering and drink offering that you offer in the morning. This is a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord.

Sabbath Offerings
9 “‘On the Sabbath day, make an offering of two lambs a year old without defect, together with its drink offering and a grain offering of two-tenths of an ephah[c] of the finest flour mixed with olive oil. 10 This is the burnt offering for every Sabbath, in addition to the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.

Monthly Offerings
11 “‘On the first of every month, present to the Lord a burnt offering of two young bulls, one ram and seven male lambs a year old, all without defect. 12 With each bull there is to be a grain offering of three-tenths of an ephah[d] of the finest flour mixed with oil; with the ram, a grain offering of two-tenths of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with oil; 13 and with each lamb, a grain offering of a tenth of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with oil. This is for a burnt offering, a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the Lord. 14 With each bull there is to be a drink offering of half a hin[e] of wine; with the ram, a third of a hin[f]; and with each lamb, a quarter of a hin. This is the monthly burnt offering to be made at each new moon during the year. 15 Besides the regular burnt offering with its drink offering, one male goat is to be presented to the Lord as a sin offering.[g]

The Passover
16 “‘On the fourteenth day of the first month the Lord’s Passover is to be held. 17 On the fifteenth day of this month there is to be a festival; for seven days eat bread made without yeast. 18 On the first day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. 19 Present to the Lord a food offering consisting of a burnt offering of two young bulls, one ram and seven male lambs a year old, all without defect. 20 With each bull offer a grain offering of three-tenths of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with oil; with the ram, two-tenths; 21 and with each of the seven lambs, one-tenth. 22 Include one male goat as a sin offering to make atonement for you. 23 Offer these in addition to the regular morning burnt offering. 24 In this way present the food offering every day for seven days as an aroma pleasing to the Lord; it is to be offered in addition to the regular burnt offering and its drink offering. 25 On the seventh day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.

The Festival of Weeks
26 “‘On the day of firstfruits, when you present to the Lord an offering of new grain during the Festival of Weeks, hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. 27 Present a burnt offering of two young bulls, one ram and seven male lambs a year old as an aroma pleasing to the Lord. 28 With each bull there is to be a grain offering of three-tenths of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with oil; with the ram, two-tenths; 29 and with each of the seven lambs, one-tenth. 30 Include one male goat to make atonement for you. 31 Offer these together with their drink offerings, in addition to the regular burnt offering and its grain offering. Be sure the animals are without defect.

“Christ suffered for our sins once and for all. He never sinned, but died for sinners to bring them safely to God. He suffered physical death, but returned to life in the Spirit” [1 Peter 3:18, New Living Translation]. What a contrast this paragraph offers us when compared to chapters 28 and 29 of Numbers, where the sacrifices to which the Jewish people were obligated to celebrate are detailed. God spoke to Moses and told him how specifically and with exact measurements each of them should be carried out. Daily, weekly (Sabbath), monthly sacrifices in addition to the established feasts: The Passover, the unleavened bread, the feast of the weeks or pentecost (firstfruits of the early harvest), the trumpets sacrifice, the day of atonement, and the feast of booths (tabernacles) in the fall at the end of the harvest. This whole liturgy was reduced in the New Covenant to an incredibly simpler remembrance: His body represented by the bread and the new covenant in His blood represented by the fruit of the vine. Simple, but at the same time profound. And what should we do? “With Jesus’ help we will continually offer our sacrifice of praise to God by telling others of the glory of his name. Don’t forget to do good and to share what you have with those in need, for such sacrifices are very pleasing to him.” [Hebrews 13:15 and 16].
