Salmos 46: Dios es nuestro amparo y fortaleza.
1 Al Músico principal: de los hijos de Coré: Salmo sobre Alamoth. DIOS es nuestro amparo y fortaleza, Nuestro pronto auxilio en las tribulaciones.
2 Por tanto no temeremos aunque la tierra sea removida; Aunque se traspasen los montes al corazón de la mar.
3 Bramarán, turbaránse sus aguas; Temblarán los montes á causa de su braveza. (Selah.)
4 Del río sus conductos alegrarán la ciudad de Dios, El santuario de las tiendas del Altísimo.
5 Dios está en medio de ella; no será conmovida: Dios la ayudará al clarear la mañana.
6 Bramaron las gentes, titubearon los reinos; Dió él su voz, derritióse la tierra.
7 Jehová de los ejércitos es con nosotros; Nuestro refugio es el Dios de Jacob. (Selah.)
8 Venid, ved las obras de Jehová, Que ha puesto asolamientos en la tierra.
9 Que hace cesar las guerras hasta los fines de la tierra: Que quiebra el arco, corta la lanza, Y quema los carros en el fuego.
10 Estad quietos, y conoced que yo soy Dios: Ensalzado he de ser entre las gentes, ensalzado seré en la tierra.

Un búnker es una fortificación subterránea para defensa de los ataques externos. “Eventos como el huracán Harvey, el tsunami japonés, el terremoto de Haití, los incendios forestales de California y, más recientemente, las tremendas tormentas en América Central son ejemplos de desastres localizados en los que las personas fueron, o están siendo desplazadas, careciendo de los servicios más básicos y esto no durante horas o días, sino semanas.” Así declara una publicación dedicada a instruir a la población en cómo estar preparados para desastres. Si bien debemos ser prudentes y hacer lo que está a nuestro alcance, hay un mejor plan para estar protegidos y seguros en tiempos de calamidades. Solo Dios sabe cuántas veces este salmo fue leído o recitado de memoria en hospitales, funerales, u hogares en crisis trayendo ánimo y fortaleza a quienes estaban sufriendo el embate del enemigo. Mientras nuestra intuición nos lleva a la preocupación y a la hiper actividad, el salmista presenta una mejor alternativa. Dije mejor; ¡no más fácil! “Estad quietos, y conoced que yo soy Dios; seré exaltado entre las naciones; enaltecido seré en la tierra. Jehová de los ejércitos está con nosotros; nuestro refugio es el Dios de Jacob”. [versículos 10 y 11, Versión Reina Varela 1960]. Cuando dejamos todo en las manos de Dios y esperamos completamente en Él, empezamos entonces a conocerle en una dimensión no antes experimentada, descubriendo que no es un “bunker” donde está la respuesta, sino en Dios Quien es nuestro amparo y fortaleza, nuestro seguro búnker en la tormenta. Repito: “Jehová de los ejércitos está con nosotros; nuestro refugio es el Dios de Jacob.”
Psalm 46: God the Refuge of His People and Conqueror of the Nations.
1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
7 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth.
9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

A bunker is an underground fortification for the defense of external attacks. “Events such as Hurricane Harvey, the Japanese tsunami, the Haiti earthquake, the California wildfires and, more recently, the tremendous storms in Central America are examples of localized disasters in which people were, or are being displaced, lacking the most basic services and this not for just hours or days, but for weeks.” This is how a publication on disaster preparedness warns the population instructing it on how to be prepared for disasters. While we must be cautious and do what is within our reach, there is a better plan to be protected and safe in times of calamity. Only the Lord knows how many times this psalm has been read or recited by heart in hospitals, funerals, or homes in crisis; bringing encouragement and strength to those who were suffering the enemy’s onslaught. While intuitively we are prone to worry and hyperactivity, the Psalmist presents a better alternative. I said better; No easier! ” “Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth!” The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.” [verses 10 and 11, New International Version]. When we leave everything in God’s hands and wait completely in Him, we then begin to know Him in a dimension never before experienced, and discover that a “bunker” is not the answer, but in God Who is our shelter and strength, our safe bunker in the storm. I repeat:” The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”
