2 Tesalonicenses 2: Manifestación y juicio del malvado.

1 Ahora bien, hermanos, en cuanto a la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo y a nuestra reunión con él, les pedimos 2 que no pierdan la cabeza ni se alarmen por ciertas profecías,[a] ni por mensajes orales o escritos supuestamente nuestros, que digan: «¡Ya llegó el día del Señor!». 3 No se dejen engañar de ninguna manera, porque primero tiene que llegar la rebelión contra Dios[b] y manifestarse el hombre de maldad,[c] el que está destinado a la destrucción.[d] 4 Este se opone y se levanta contra todo lo que lleva el nombre de dios o es objeto de adoración, hasta el punto de adueñarse del templo de Dios y pretender ser Dios.

5 ¿No recuerdan que ya hablaba de esto cuando estaba con ustedes? 6 Bien saben que hay algo que detiene a este hombre, a fin de que él se manifieste a su debido tiempo. 7 Es cierto que el misterio de la maldad ya está ejerciendo su poder; pero falta que sea quitado de en medio el que ahora lo detiene. 8 Entonces se manifestará aquel malvado, a quien el Señor Jesús derrocará con el soplo de su boca y destruirá con el esplendor de su venida. 9 El malvado vendrá, por obra de Satanás, con toda clase de milagros, señales y prodigios falsos. 10 Con toda perversidad engañará a los que se pierden por haberse negado a amar la verdad y así ser salvos. 11 Por eso Dios les envía un poder engañoso, para que crean en la mentira. 12 Así serán condenados todos los que no creyeron en la verdad, sino que se deleitaron en la maldad.

Exhortación a la perseverancia
13 Nosotros, en cambio, siempre debemos dar gracias a Dios por ustedes, hermanos amados por el Señor, porque Dios los escogió como los primeros frutos[e] para ser salvos, mediante la obra santificadora del Espíritu y la fe que tienen en la verdad. 14 Para esto Dios los llamó por nuestro evangelio, a fin de que tengan parte en la gloria de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

15 Así que, hermanos, sigan firmes y manténganse fieles a las enseñanzas[f] que, oralmente o por carta, hemos transmitido.

16 Que nuestro Señor Jesucristo mismo y Dios nuestro Padre, que nos amó y por su gracia nos dio consuelo eterno y una buena esperanza, 17 los anime y fortalezca su corazón, para que tanto en palabra como en obra hagan todo lo que sea bueno.

“No se dejen perturbar ni se alarmen tan fácilmente por los que dicen que el día del Señor ya ha comenzado. No les crean, ni siquiera si afirman haber tenido una visión espiritual, una revelación o haber recibido una carta supuestamente de nosotros.” (2 Tesalonicenses 2:2, NTV). ¡No hay nada nuevo bajo el sol! Uno de los delitos más comunes en nuestra época es el robo de identidad. Un estudio reciente reveló que más de un millón de niños han sido víctimas de este crimen, dos terceras partes de ellos menores de siete años. De manera similar, en los días del Apóstol Pablo, alguien había escrito o enseñado falsamente que el Día del Señor ya había llegado, usando fraudulentamente el nombre del apóstol. Pero hay un robo aún más trágico y devastador: cuando Satanás intenta robarnos nuestra nueva identidad en Cristo. Cuando aceptamos a Jesús como Señor y Salvador, nos convertimos en una nueva creación; las cosas viejas pasaron y todo es hecho nuevo (2 Corintios 5:17). Sin embargo, el enemigo busca arrebatarnos esta identidad de hijos de Dios, atormentándonos con nuestro pasado —aun cuando Dios ya nos ha perdonado—, cargándonos de culpa y vergüenza, y haciéndonos dudar de nuestra salvación. Incluso introduce doctrinas o revelaciones que contradicen la Palabra de Dios. La mejor protección contra el robo de nuestra identidad espiritual es sumergirnos en la lectura de las Sagradas Escrituras y fortalecer nuestra fe en Jesucristo. Recordemos que la verdad de la Biblia es nuestro escudo contra las mentiras del enemigo. ¡Mantengámonos firmes y vivamos plenamente nuestra identidad como hijos de Dios!

2 Thessalonians 2: The Man of Lawlessness.

1 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. 3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness[a] is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

5 Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? 6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

13 But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits[b] to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. 14 He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15 So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings[c] we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.

16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

“Don’t be so easily shaken or alarmed by those who say that the day of the Lord has already begun. Don’t believe them, even if they claim to have had a spiritual vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us.” (2 Thessalonians 2:2, NLT). There is nothing new under the sun! One of the most common crimes in our time is identity theft. A recent study revealed that over one million children have been victims of this crime, two-thirds of whom are under seven years old. Similarly, in the days of the Apostle Paul, someone had falsely written or taught that the Day of the Lord had already come, fraudulently using the apostle’s name. But there is an even more tragic and devastating theft: when Satan tries to steal our new identity in Christ. When we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we become a new creation; the old has passed away, and everything is made new (2 Corinthians 5:17). However, the enemy seeks to rob us of this identity as children of God, tormenting us with our past—even though God has already forgiven us—burdening us with guilt and shame, and making us doubt our salvation. He even introduces doctrines or revelations that contradict the Word of God.
The best protection against the theft of our spiritual identity is immersing ourselves in the reading of the Scriptures and strengthening our faith in Jesus Christ. Let us remember that the truth of the Bible is our shield against the lies of the enemy. Let us stand firm and fully live out our identity as children of God!
